PhD Positions in Solar System Science at MPS Göttingen

The International Max Planck Research School for Solar System Science at the University of Göttingen in Germany (Solar System School) offers a research-oriented doctoral programme covering the physical aspects of Solar system science. It is jointly run by the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) and the University of Göttingen ( http://www.solar-system-school.de/ ).

The Solar System School invites applications for several PhD positions, including projects in asteroseismology, helioseismology and solar physics.

The scientific topics in solar physics/heliophysics and solar and stellar interiors range from the Sun’s interior and subsurface dynamics investigated via global and local helioseismology (Gizon, Duvall, Birch, Schou) to the asteroseismology of solar-like and evolved stars (Hekker), and include among other things the investigations of  solar magnetic fields and the multitude of dynamic solar features (Solanki and others).
